NETWORK SCIENCES ITA

Abstract

This project supports research at a competitively selected United States (US)/United Kingdom (UK) government, university, and industry consortium established to perform fundamental network and information science investigations in the areas of network theory, system-of-systems security, sensor processing and delivery, and distributed coalition planning and decision making. The focus is on enhancing distributed, secure, and flexible decision-making to improve coalition operations, and developing the scientific foundations for complex and dynamic networked systems-of-systems to support the complex human, social, and technical interactions anticipated in future coalition operations with the emphasis on integration of multiple technical disciplines in an international arena. The US Army Research Laboratory (ARL) and the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD) established a jointly funded and managed US and UK consortium, to be known as an International Technology Alliance (ITA) on Network and Information Sciences in FY06. The cited work is consistent with the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering science and technology priority focus areas and the Army Modernization Strategy. Work in this project is performed by the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) at Adelphi, MD.
