Vaccines to Prevent Dengue Fever Advanced Tech

Abstract

This Project covers technology development, demonstration and transition of a candidate vaccine for the prevention of Dengue fever caused by any of the four Dengue virus serotypes. The vaccine is intended to be effective in people with and without a prior history of Dengue infection. Research is conducted in compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations for medical products for human use. Promising medical countermeasures identified in this Project are further matured under Program Element 0603807A (Medical Systems Advanced Development) / Project 808 (DoD Drug & Vacc Ad). The cited research is consistent with the Under Secretary of Defense (Research and Engineering) science and technology focus areas and the Army Modernization Strategy. Research is managed by the United States Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC) in coordination with the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC). The Army is responsible for programming and funding all Department of Defense (DoD) naturally occurring infectious disease research requirements, thereby precluding duplication of effort within the Military Departments.
