BMDS Test Program
Abstract
The Test Program provides consolidated Missile Defense Agency (MDA) capabilities and resources to support the management and execution of Missile Defense System (MDS) and Element-level testing. The MDA Test Program is responsible for all MDS testing and relies on MDS Systems Engineering to provide the system test objectives that define the test architecture by developing, updating, coordinating, and assessing the Integrated Master Test Plan (IMTP). The MDA Test Program plans and executes MDS test events and develops the necessary test policy, test plans, and test infrastructure to conduct an effective test program. The goals of this budget project are to sustain and improve a robust testing program and to enhance Modeling and Simulation (M&S) efforts to provide, in conjunction with flight and ground testing, confidence to the Combatant Commanders that the missile defense system works. Activities are grouped into six major areas: 1) Program Planning and Operations; 2) Flight Test; 3) Ground Test; 4) Test Infrastructure; 5) Engineering Test Analysis; and 6) Joint Emerging Operational Needs (JEON). Note: MDA has modified the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) test program to reinforce the Agency's commitment to reducing concurrency risk in the development program and to inform the deployment of Ground-based Interceptors (GBIs) with improved capabilities. Due to the cancellation of the Remote Kill Vehicle (RKV) program, the GMD Flight Test Program is under review.
