Static Immersion of Nano Structure Coatings and Iodine Air Bubble Antifouling Methods

Abstract

FIT will provide fixtures from which to deploy the nano-structure units and four test stations at the Port Canaveral test site and a weather proof housing to accommodate the air compressors, iodine source and control systems. The test stations shall be suspended at a depth of about four feet and shall be retrievable to allow periodic inspection of the test chambers. FIT will do monthly inspections, data collection of fouling and provide results to ONR and NUWC to determine if there is a fundamental basis for the prevention of biofouling on these unique surfaces that is enhanced by aeration and/or iodine infused bubbles.
