Processes Affecting Sediments flux and fate throught the Mekong Delta and continental shelf

Abstract

The research undertaken by this grant is investigating both the pieces and the integrated whole of the Mekong fluvial-delta-coastal-shelf system. This research builds on recent advances in understanding operational processes for this region, and involves new application of tools and techniques. Additional goals are to provide input and validation for modeling efforts and to contribute groundtruth for remote sensing by other investigators. The research group funded at the University of Washington is responsible for coordinating the overall project, involving multiple investigators from US and international institutions. This proposal represents the second phase of research, which will include a major field study in March 2015 and continued laboratory analysis and synthesis.
