Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Education, Outreach and Workforce Program

Abstract

Abstract National Guard Youth Foundation (NGYF), has partnered with Royer Studios (RS) to provide a comprehensive technology-based workforce development program to address Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) deficiencies in the existing and future labor force. NGYF will serve as the lead applicant, and respectfully requests $1.5 million over a three-year period through the Office of Naval Research (ONR) STEM Education, Outreach and Workforce Program (EOW Program) for an innovative research-based Animate My Action Plan (AMAP) initiative that will engage at-risk youth and focus on serving underrepresented populations, including young women and minorities. NGYF respectfully requests $1.5 million from ONR in support of the three-phased AMAP initiative. The total program budget is $2.6 million, therefore 42% of the program will be supported through additional funds. These funds include an investment of $60,000 for each of eight AMAP sites totaling $480,000, and $620,000 from NGYF via corporate sponsorship opportunities. Based on results of the first three years, we will identify additional sites to expand our efforts in an optional fourth and fifth year. This would include an additional eight sites, for a total of sixteen sites participating in AMAP by 2019. NGYF and RS have identified goals for the AMAP initiative that showcase the comprehensive nature and projected impact of the project.
