A New Generation of Acoustic Emission Smart Sensors
Abstract
Funds are provided to Dr. Victor Giurgiutiu from University of South Carolina, in the amount of $50,000.00 for FY15. This is a new 3 year (36 months) grant for a total value of $150,000.00 for the investigation and development of "A New Generation of Acoustic Emission Smart Sensors" Some of the activities that will be performed in the program include: Development of novel Acoustic Emission (AE) sensors and methodologies; Enhancement, experimental validation, and finalization of the piezo-optical ring sensor; Modeling, characterization, and model-driven ring sensor design.
