Glider Operations in the Arabian Sea

Abstract

Ten Seaglider missions will be undertaken in the Arabian Sea, with gliders launched from the Seychelles and commanded to occupy a mix of cross?basin and shorter, more rapidly?repeated sections. Final sampling plans will be determined as part of programmatic planning discussions that involve the entire NASCar science team. This proposed effort includes glider preparation, field operations, piloting, trouble shooting and basic processing and dissemination. Optional elements include the recovery of some of all of the gliders using short?range vessels sailing from the Seychelles, Maldives and Oman, and post?mission calibration and refurbishment.
