Request for ONR Support of the 19th American Physical Society conference on Shock Compression of Condensed Matter (SCCM-2015)

Abstract

The 19th American Physical Society Shock Compression of Condensed Matter conference (SCCM-2015) is a premier forum for the presentation and discussion of cutting-edge world-wide research in fundamental science and applications of shock and detonation physics and chemistry, energetic materials, and materials response to extreme conditions. This proposal is a request for $10,000 from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to support the SCCM-2015 conference. The ONR funds, if awarded, will be used to enhance US graduate students participation by providing scholarships to allow students to attend the conference including Student Research Symposium before the official start of the conference. The SCCM-2015 conference is to be held at the Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina in Tampa, Florida on June 14-19, 2015. The subject matter of the conference is fully aligned with research interests of the ONR Advanced Reactive and Energetics Materials Program.
