Abstract

Title: Information Technology and Bionics - Symposium in Memory of Tamás Roska Objective: To communicate Navy interest and future needs with research community. To promote collaboration and dissemination of information through exchange of scientific ideas in nanotechnology. Approach: This scientific conference will achieve its objective by incorporating invited expert speakers, reporting of new research results, introductory tutorials as well as scientific posters in the program. Statement of Work: PI will organize the conference. Invite speakers, identify session chairs and ensure the smooth running of the conference sessions, as well as financial management of the conference expenses. To promote collaboration and dissemination of information through exchange of scientific ideas in nanotechnology. ONR relevance: This particular symposium is organized in memory of long-time ONR PI, the late Professor Tamas Roska of Pazmany University in Budapest, Hungary. Prof. Roska made seminal and lasting contributions in many areas of nanoelectronics, including Cellular Neural Network (CNN), unconventional computations and their applications in autonomous systems, sense and avoidance etc. The symposium will discuss past accomplishments and future directions in these fields and it will be an ideal venue where futures needs of DoD be effectively communicated to the research community.
