UR Shiptime and Marine Technician Support for the RV Endeavor CY-2015

Abstract

Proposal for CY 2015 - Year 4 of Award N00014-12-1-0591 Project Summary 1) Project Title Acoustic Network Performance Principle Investigator Steven Means: Deploy moorings at the New Jersey Shelf Break south of the Hudson Canyon. Acquire ADCP and Yo-Yo CTD data. Location could be shifted north of Hudson Canyon. Requirements: CTD/Rosette, ship board ADCP, A-Frame for mooring deployment and retrieval, Tow-yo CTD, RF antenna mount, Fathometer. 2) Project Title Mid-Frequency Noise Principle Investigator William S. Hodgkiss: Deployment of a 128-element vertical line array of hydrophones for observations of the mid-frequency noise field. Array is deployed to 300m depth with an umbilical cable running to a small surface buoy. Requirements: A-frame for deployment/recovery of array/buoy. DP capability desired but not critical. Will take multiple CTDs. 3) Project Title 2015 ONR S&T Demo Principle Investigator Robert Gibson: Summary of Field Work Demonstrating Mine warfare and Airborne projects at NAS PAX Requirements: 5 Ships with deck space and ability to launch and recover 1000 lb unmanned systems with lab space. Will be working in the Chesapeake Bay area. The 2015 Technical Proposal to ONR from the University of Rhode Island requests expansion funding for Year 4 in the amount of $1,173,294. The expansion request represents 68 ONR research cruise days in 2015 aboard the R/V Endeavor, less carry-forward funds from previous years. The total day rate per cruise is $21,243. This rate is comprised of a ship day rate of $18,514 and a Marine Technician day rate of $2,729.
