Investigating flow features near abrupt topography in the Mariana Basin

Abstract

The specific deployment of the PIES will be developed through interaction with other members of FLEAT to support the overall science goals of the DRI. Laboratory experiments and appropriate fundamental modeling will complement the resulting studies. Furthermore, in order to understand the transport properties of horizontal and vertical flow features in the region, we shall utilize our recent advances in Lagrangian data processing methods. These methods can provide insight across a wide range of scales, from determining the transport properties of the NEC, NECC and associated eddies to uncovering the connectivity between and within coral reef systems.
