Theoretical bounds on imaging through scattering media

Abstract

The ambitious and transformative research goal of this proposal is to develop a mathematical framework, with associated models and algorithms for imaging through scattering media and develop practical methods for improving imaging performance. We will accomplish this by exploiting modern advances in computational imaging, computational illumination, correlational sensors, and theory of inverse problems. We will provide quantitative bounds on achievable performance for imaging at large distances.
