Smart Monitoring 2015 Military Health Meeting

Abstract

Project Summary/Abstract This is an unsolicited proposal for $19,500 USD to support the 8th annual Smart Monitoring meeting that, as previous meetings, will be held the weekend before the Military Health System Research Science Symposium (MHSRS), formerly Advanced Technology Applications for Combat Casualty Care (ATACCC). Smart Monitoring 2015 Military Health will be held at Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina Hotel on August 15-16, 2015. The annual Smart Monitoring has become one of the premier interdisciplinary forums where scientists, clinicians and engineers come together with the common purpose of advancing development, testing and utility of medical monitors and related medical products for combat casualty care and military health. Most scientific meetings sequester industry from academia and government, whereas Smart Monitoring encourages open communication on a level playing field with no favoritism to any particular company. The primary purpose of these funds is general support of the conference, including audiovisual service, meeting rooms and travel expenses for invited speakers and selected participants. Travel funds allow us to attract leaders and rising stars in the field of medical monitoring and related fields. Invited keynote speakers will include the following or similar topics: Mathematical Models used for Decision Support, Closed Loop and Predictive Indices; Telemedicine in the Real World; New Non-invasive monitors for continuous blood pressure and cardiac output; Medical Monitoring and Care Challenges for Treating Ebola and other Pandemic Threats; New Urinary Output Monitors Features and Utility. In addition companies are invited to present their latest products for combat casualty care. A special focus is on small startup companies whose technologies are in the development phase.
