Interface Wave Sediment Profiler

Abstract

?This proposal is for equipment that would allow the estimation of the acoustic and geotechnical properties of the top few meters of marine sediments. Avibrator sub-system is being proposed to be fabricated by Falmouth Scientific, Inc. of Massachusetts. The 4 beam bender element vibrator will be provided by FSI. Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is proposing the deployment and mooring system including a frame for placement of accelerometers in seabed. Finally, we are proposing to purchase 4 high frequency geophones to integrate into our existing system. A month of labor for a technician (R. Freeland)at URI is also proposed to participate in testing of the equipment and in potting the geophones to cables.
