Acute effects of brain cooling in porcine model of moderate traumatic brain injury

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to (1) characterize effects of brain cooling on brain morphological and cardiopulmonary hemodynamic changes in healthy pigs, and (2) investigate the effects of brain cooling on moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI)-induced brain morphological and cardiopulmonary changes in acute phase. We hypothesize that brain cooling effectively attenuates acute cerebral morphological changes without adverse effects.
