Mekong Modeling Phase 2

Abstract

The main objective of this modeling study is to allow detailed modeling of water and sediment flows and morphological evolution of complex deltaic systems under incomplete data coverage and/or data access conditions, at scale levels from an entire delta system to detailed local areas, with the model system Delft3D-FM (Flexible Mesh), the successor to the Delft3D system, which has been used by the Navy and ONR researchers for more than a decade. The case study of the Mekong delta is the focus of intensive field campaigns in some specific areas and the proposed modeling will interconnect and help interpret the data from these campaigns, as well as put them in a delta-wide perspective.
