Radiation Protection from Laser Threats

Abstract

Short Work Statement: They will develop an imaging system to suppress undesirable laser illumination on a detector by combined use of linear optics principles and nonlinear computational post-processing methods. This approach affords numerous advantages, including independence of wavelength, beam energy, polarization, and pulse width. A collaboration with Dr. Abbie Watnik, U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, will be maintained to experimentally verify the results at NRL. Quantitative image quality metrics such as the general image quality equation will be used.
