Seasonal and Interannual Transport Exchanges Among Kuroshio, Luzon Strait Throughflow, Taiwan Strait Current and South China Sea Warm Current

Abstract

In support of ONR-sponsored NLIWI, ITOP and OKMC projects, we propose to simulate circulation in seas around Taiwan from 1998 to 2012, using the existing East Asia Seas Nowcast/Forecast System of Naval Research Laboratory, Mississippi. The objective is to estimate the relative contribution of Kuroshio, Luzon Strait Throughflow, Taiwan Strait Current and South China Sea Warm Current in the Luzon Strait, Taiwan Strait and off northeast Taiwan from seasonal to interannual time scales.
