Progressive Damage & Failure of Marine Sandwich Structures with Fiber-reinforced Face Sheets due to Extreme Thermo-Mechanical Loads.

Abstract

- Characterize three-dimensional (3-D) damage initiation and delamination, progression and failure of doubly-curved sandwich structures with fiber-reinforced face sheets due to explosive loads -*Incorporate in mathematical models the degradation of material moduli due to damage induced because of exposure to adverse environment, and their dependence on strain rates and ageing -Develop reduced-order models for doubly-curved sandwich structures and compare predictions with those from analyses of 3-D problems- Synthesize results and propose scaling laws, and engineering models in the form of user-friendly packages for designers
