THIS GRANT IS A CONTINUATION OF N00014-14-1-0040 Shallow Water Acoustics Studies

Abstract

1) continuation of analysis of data from the 2009 QPE study, specifically regarding ambient noise, azimuthal intensity fluctuations, and probability of detection, 2) generation of ?simplified (often analytic) expressions? for important acoustic properties such as coherence length, scintillation index, and transmission loss, 3) preparation for a 2016-2017 slope/shelfbreak/canyon experiment, 4) numerical modeling of shear effects in shallow water acoustics, and 5) model and estimate potential effect of climate change on shallow water acoustics.
