THIS GRANT IS A CONTINUATION OF N000141310637 Marine bioacoustics: Soundtracks for the future
Abstract
We propose to offer two types of training courses, one being our advanced Marine Bioacoustics course and the other being a short Marine Bioacoustics course designed to introduce undergraduate students to the subject. In 2013, a 5-week advanced summer course, modeled after those held from 2003 to 2011, will be taught at Friday Harbor Laboratories (FHL) in Friday Harbor, WA. Budgetary constraints will only allow us to teach this 5-week course at FHL during 2013, when we can carry over remaining funds from our current grant via a no-cost extension. Other 2.5-week advanced courses will be offered on Hawaii Island during the Januaries of 2015 and 2017, unless additional funding can be secured. Additional funding may enable us to hold one or both of these courses either during the summer in Friday Harbor, WA or during January/February in Melimoyu, Argentina. The 2.5-week short courses will be taught on Hawaii Island during the Marches of 2013, 2014, and 2016).
