THIS GRANT IS A CONTINUATION OF N00014-14-1-0223 Ocean Acoustic Propagation and Coherence Studies

Abstract

Four areas of study are proposed to address incompletely understood observed behavior observed in previous acoustic field experiments: Canyon/Slope seafloor interaction effects, seabed roughness effects, oceanographic feature scale sensitivity, and analysis of signal processing relevant acoustic field statistical parameters. Particular targets for each of these studies are the effects, in each circumstance, of intermittent internal waves, intrusions, and fronts. Research on internal-wave predictability and waveform shapes will be included because knowing certain details of these waves is important for acoustics.
