High power blue diode laser array for underwater applications

Abstract

High-power, compact, coherent sources are extremely useful in many civil and military applications. The goal of this effort is to design and demonstrate a powerful, highly efficient, blue laser capable of emitting high-peakpower, high-repetition-rate pulses and high-power, high-frequency modulated laser beam to be used for the Navy~s underwater applications; the proposed laser will be based on beam-combined large arrays of highpower broad-area semiconductor diode lasers in the external cavity design. - - - - - - - - - - -
