THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF N00014-14-1-0465 Use of CFD for Improving System-Based Methods for Maneuvering and Stability in Regular and Irregular Arbitrary Heading Waves, Including CFD-Based System Iden

Abstract

Funds are provided to perform the following tasks: Continue code development for Yamasaki and Toda~s propeller mode; Continue using CFD to improve System-Based methods in collaboration with NSWCCD; continue waterjet studies in support NATO AVT-216; Continue Delft catamaran maneuvering and Model 5415M course keeping in support NATO AVT-216; Simulations in support free running model tests in U. Iowa Wave Basin. Progress: The computational grid for Model hull 5514 was constructed and simulations of captive model tests were conducted to support improving system-based (SB) methods in Tempest in collaboration NSWCCD. U. of Iowa wave basin studies were conducted to evaluate memory effect and wave drift forces to support SB and System Identification studies.
