Special Award in Ocean Acoustics

Abstract

PI will continue research in acoustics, focussing on the AIWEX ACOUSTIC TRANSMISSION EXPERIMENT (AATE) acoustic data was taken under the Arctic sea ice, including analysis of all of the results from the 150 m depth range of the receivers and the fixed receiver 100 m in front of the depth cycling receivers at 2, 4, 8, and 16 kHz will be reduced to path number, amplitude, and phase. The spectral and cross spectral results will be computed and prepared for publication. In addition, the AIWEX 3D + time statistical oceanographic model will be numerically modified, as a function of time, to show the changes in the sound velocity profile and the index of refraction statistics as the ocean model changes from ice-covered to non-ice-covered.
