Thermo-mechanical Evaluation of Polymeric Coatings for Behavior in CavitationErosion Conditions

Abstract

Funds are provide to perform the following tasks for two years:1. Fabrication of new PU hybrid blends with varying proportions of pre-polymers for thermo-mechanical characterization and accelerated cavitation erosion testing. 2. Constitutive characterization of the new polymer candidates. 3. Damage analysis using ASTM G32 standard approach and other accelerated cavitation erosion tests. 4. Numerical evaluation of effect of voids and micro-scale heterogeneities on cavitation erosion resistance. 5. Identification of the nano-structural and chemical signature of cavitation erosion damage. 6. Experimental evaluation of voids and particulate reinforcement on cavitation erosion resistance.
