A New Signal Processing and Detection Approach for Underwater Chaotic Lidar

Abstract

A New Signal Processing and Detection Approach for Underwater Chaotic Lidar We propose to investigate an emerging new class of inference-based, decomposition-based, statistical, and nonlinear signal processing and signal detection techniques that have not yet been explored for use in underwater lidar. These techniques offer the promise to not only improve the detection range of lidar targets in turbid water beyond the current state of the art, but also to provide target detection statistics that are critical to informing operating decisions once a target is detected.
