Abstract
The MURI team will fundamentally advance acoustic metamaterials through developments in transformation acoustics, extreme and novel acoustic material properties, active acoustic metamaterials, and dispersion engineering in acoustic metamaterials. The research within each thrust will balance theory, simulation and fabrication and will focus on areas needed to transform the field: multiple approaches pursued in parallel; continuous progress towards three-dimensions; and a focus on useful frequency ranges and associated sub-wavelength element size.
