Slocum Glider Integrated Laser In-Situ Scattering and Transmissometry Sensors for Suspended Particle Characterization Beneath Tropical Cyclones

Abstract

Short Work Statement: The objective of this DURIP is to obtain a set of Teledyne-Webb Research (TWR) Slocum glider integrated Laser In-Situ Scattering and Transmissometry (LISST) sensors to directly sample particle size distribution and suspended sediment concentration during storm events that impact the littoral environment. A set of 10 glider Integrated LISST sensors will be purchased to build capacity and capabilities at the Rutgers University Center for Ocean Observing Leadership (RUCOOL) for sampling suspended particle size and concentration from ocean glider platforms. Sequoia Scientific will supply 10 LISST sensors for and Teledyne-Webb will install sensors in custom glider science bays.
