An array of Pop-up Data Shuttle, Current and Pressure recording Inverted Echo Sounders (PDS-CPIES) for monitoring deep-sea, near-inertial currents and surface-ice cover in the Artic Ocean

Abstract

Funds are provided under the DURIP program to acquire equipment for naval research. The grant is to acquire an oceanographic sensing system called ~Pop-up Data Shuttle Current and Pressure recording Inverted Echo Sounders~ (PDS-CPIES) that would be used to observe the oceanographic conditions in the Arctic during the field program for the Stratified Ocean Dynamics in the Arctic (SODA) research initiative sponsored by ONR. This instrumentation will be critical for collecting the water column information during the observing period.
