Fundamental Degradation Mechanisms of Multi-Functional Nanoengineered Surfaces

Abstract

The cumulative tasks for the proposed efforts are summarized below:1. Measure and verify degradation mechanisms of PTFE and SAM films2. Interpret experimental SPM degradation results to identify key mediating factors3. Measure degradation mechanisms of REO, and SLIPS surfaces4. Measure degradation mechanisms of nanoengineered metal oxide surfaces5. Define and connect the degradation across different degradation modes and timescales6. Use learned mechanisms to synthesize optimum coatings for heat transfer and measure optimized micro/nanoengineered surfaces for condensation having unparalleled durability
