Establishing the Operational Capacity of the Animal Telemetry Network Data Assembly Cneter (Phase III)

Abstract

The ATN DAC is intended to provide researchers, resource managers, and industry the capacity to store data in a standardized format, as well as to access, analyze, visualize, and synthesize animal borne electronic tag data sets. The goal is to maximize what can be accomplished with past, current, and future investments in animal tagging data and science. We will improve the capacity for instantaneous access to animal telemetry data across the national waterways and improve data exchange and storage with other data repositories.Specific objectives in Phase III are to: establish a new Program Manager of the ATN DAC who will coordinate the design of the ATN DAC with the IOOS PO, and newly hired IOOS ATN Coordinator.; expand the number of data sets and electronic tag data types archived in the ATN DAC; expand electronic tag data products downloadable form the ATN; enhance the backend database and user interface; expand server-side capabilities and data accessibility; improve system security; and create a long term storage solutions with NECI.
