Broadband Sound Sources for Underwater Acoustic Field Experiments

Abstract

This research grant supports the fabrication and broadband acoustic sources for shallow water acoustic propagation and inversion experiments. The effort proposed is to develop and integrate instumentation to fabricate two WHOI resonator sources with difference operating center frequencies - one at 550 Hz and a second at 750 Hz. These source will be dirven by an ITC-2007 spherical broadband transducer with electronic packages and open acoustic tubes tuned for the specific frequencies. In addition, it is proposed to refurbish an existing 224 Hz resonator source. The new sources will be used in ONR sponsored field experiment.
