Expanding AFLOW Visualization using Jmol V2

Abstract

New graphics tools are developed for visualization of quantum-derived data and crystal structures. The continued collaboration between Duke Materials Science and St. Olaf Chemistry departments is proposed. Subprojects will further enhance the visualization aspects of AFLOW1 and also have significant impact beyond AFLOW. These projects will be carried out at St. Olaf by four undergraduates, primarily during the summer months, but also continuing through the academic year. The proposal requests funds to support four undergraduate stipends for 10-week summer research experiences, travel funds to go to Duke for one week for training and orientation with the AFLOW project, travel to the March APS meeting in New Orleans, LA, and salary and benefits for senior personnel at St. Olaf.
