Effects of Blast on Pristine & Damaged Sandwich Structures

Abstract

Effects of Blast on Pristine & Damaged Sandwich StructuresThe proposed work aims at researching (i) the Nonlinear Effects in the Response of Curved Sandwich Structures, which are needed for the study of dynamic collapse (to follow); (ii) the Free Vibration of Curved Sandwich Structures and the Dynamic Response of Curved Sandwich Panels under Sudden Loading (This will be done by using the Extended High Order Sandwich Panel Theory that was developed in the previous grant and by verifying and validating through the development of a relevant Elasticity solution for a simple configuration); (iii) the Dynamic Buckling/Collapse of Sandwich Structures under Blast Loading; and (iv) the Effect of Distributed Damage on the Structural Response and Dynamic Collapse Behavior of Sandwich Panels (This damage may exist due to the impact of explosion fragments, which precedes the blast wave).
