Acquisition of an X-ray Photoelectron Spectrometer for In-situ Experiments to Advance Corrosion Studies, Surface and Interface Engineering

Abstract

This is an ONR DURIP. The XPS instrument will serve several research groups with a diverse DoD research portfolio including the study of corrosion, laser-surface interactions, surface engineering, and research in thermal transport across engineered interfaces. Research, which will be enabled by the new capabilities, is supported by the Office of Naval Research, the Center for Aircraft Structural Life Extension CAStLE program, an ONR-MURI award, an Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, the Army Research Laboratory, and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
