Silicone- based Surface Active Block Copolymers: Amphiphilic Coatings with Active Groups to Resist Hard Fouling

Abstract

There are five main research thrusts in this project: i. Identification and testing of new active groups, in particular stable radical and ioncapturing groups; ii. Identification and testing of new polar, hydrophilic groups; iii. Use of peptoid sequences to test synergies betweenactive and hydrophilic units; iv. Studies of surface composition and orientation using NEXAFS spectroscopy (also available forevaluation of surfaces provided by others in the program); and v. Studies of super-resolution microscopy to examine the surface-biologyinterface.
