Transom Flow Elevations and Experimental Methodologies

Abstract

This proposal identifies research related using new data analysis techniques in order to identifynew flow processes and developing new experimental techniques. In doing so, we intend to develop an empirical model of transom flows, conduct investigations into the unsteadyprocesses, develop new methods for measuring the flow elevations, and provide data for toolvalidation. As a part of the proposed work, we intend to work closely with Navatek LTD who isfunded under ONR Grant number N00014-15-2-5158 to develop analysis tools for the U.S.Navy. Initial work on steady transom flow elevations has already led to improved resistancepredictions of the potential flow code Aegir.
