MTS/IEEE OCEANS 16 Student Poster Competition

Abstract

Provides funding for student travel for up to 20 graduate students from other countries to come to this US scientificmeeting. This effort provides funds for student travel to the MTS Ocean s 16 scientific meeting. These students therebygain knowledge of a key business aspect of scientific research - presenting their results. They also have an opportunity to meet other researchers and form future collaborations. The OCEANS Conference and Exhibition series is held twice each year with one Conference in North America and one non-North American conference (either Asia or Europe on alternate years). The next North America Conference will be held in Monterey, CA from September 19 - 23, 2016. The theme for the conference is "The sea’s the limit!” A Student Poster Program has been an integral part of the OCEANS Conferences since 1989. The program is designed to foster and promote student involvement in technical conferences and activities of professional societies and to provide a forum for the student to interact with professionals throughout the international ocean science community. It is open to engineering and science graduate and undergraduate students. On occasion High School students have also participated in the program. The Office of Naval Research has provided financial support for the student attendance and poster competition, as well as travel for the selected students, since 1999 and OCEANS 2016 MTS/IEEE Monterey is requesting support for the next conference in the series.
