FLEX ACE Aviation Experience: READY SET FLY!

Abstract

The FLEX-ACE project aims to stimulate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and Marine Corps interest and provide STEM education to elementary through high school level students through a Marine Corps based interactive education program at the Orlando Science Center. The Flexible Aviation Classroom Experience will provide Project-Based Learning in an immersive science experience using Marine Corps aviation relevant mission-based scenarios through a Remotely Piloted Vehicle Control Center. The program will teach standards-based STEM concepts and will develop critical communication, decision-making, team-building, and collaborative skills. The lessons to be used in the FLEX-ACE classroom will be aligned specifically to Sunshine State Standards for Math and Science, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Science Education Standards, and 21st Century Skills and teachers will be trained on how to integrate the experience into their classroom lessons.
