Configurable UUV Sensor Network II

Abstract

Configurable UUV Sensor Network II - adapt current UUV technology for full-scale performance in an ocean environment, and to test adapted UUVs in a seawater facility. Adaptions include developing and integrating an electric field sensor onto the UUVs, installing a more powerful electric motor, fabricating deployable acoustic navigation components, and performing overall system automation to allow operation in a realistic naval environment. System components will be tested at full-scale in an ocean environment at the South Florida Ocean Measurement Facility (SFOMF). UUV-acquired measurements of the electromagnetic signature of a full-scale naval vessel will be compared to equivalent measurements with a conventional static array at SFOMF.
