Studies on the settlement and adhesion of model marine biofouling organisms to inform antifouling strategies
Abstract
The research will focus on: i) investigating new antifouling and fouling-release concepts using laboratory assays with model fouling species; ii) elucidating the surface properties that are important to settlement and adhesion through systematic modification of modelsurfaces; and iii) advancing our understanding of the settlement behaviour and the nature of adhesives through video tracking and advanced imaging techniques, respectively.
