Testbed Acquisition for Resilient Self-organizing Microgrids

Abstract

This testbed will simultaneously 1) support and enhance the existing $2.8M researchactivities of the PIs funded by the ONR, AFOSR, AFRL, and NSF with significantrelevance to DoD, 2) develop new experimental capabilities for the $0.8M fundamentalresearch currently proposed to the ONR and NSF, 3) establish new research directionsand capabilities for DoD in resiliency of energy distribution systems, and 4) educatefuture workforce for DoD and defense industries native to the Dallas-Fort Worthmetroplex. The PIs have published more than one thousand journal articles, conferenceproceedings, book chapters, and books. Given the PI s award-winning publications inpower electronics, optimal control, resilient control, and formal methods, they are wellpositioned to address future energy needs of US Navy highlighted in 2015 Naval S&TStrategy plans. The University of Texas at Arlington is a Hispanic-Serving Institution.
