Multi-Robot Transportation System Testbed

Abstract

Autonomous or ~selfdriving~cars are being actively developed by many academicand industrial groups, but we believe that too little is being done to understand the technicalchallenges that arise in extending a single selfdrivingvehicle into a multivehicle, ondemandtransportation system. We propose to build a multirobottestbed to support research in thiscritical area, including research in multirobotcoordination and planning, human/robotinteraction, mixed humanrobotcontrol/autonomy, and mining the extensive data collected bysuch a testbed. We have already proven the basic design of our platform on an initial vehicle~with this DURIP, we aim to increase the fleet size to four vehiclesaminimum number tosubstantively explore these multiagentcoordination issues.
