Development ADN propellant and under water charges

Abstract

In this proposal a new method of prilling ADN will be developed and evaluated. The technology to be used has the potential to enable production of 100% dense ADN particles with a low particle size span and to produce particles of different sizes in a controlled way. The method is suitable for processing explosive materials and can be scaled up for industrial production. The ADN prills will be used to develop:~minimum smoke propellants with reduced sensitivity and mechanical properties comparable to state of the art composite propellants~high performance aluminized composite propellants~high performance underwater explosives with increased Shock EnergyThe formulation work will include binder development, compatibility assessment, curing studies, formulation optimization, casting trials and characterization.
