Security Force Assistance: Cases and Policy

Abstract

They propose fully investigating and developing two additional case studies for ~The Proxy~s Political Calculus Project~ that will fully explore how the strict logic of the Deterrence with Proxies theoretical model applies to two historical incidents of Security Force Assistance (SFA): El Salvador (1979-1992), and South Korea (1949-53). They additionally propose, because of the policy relevance of this line of research, that they analyze the policy implications of the findings, with particular attention to SFA.
