Workshop on Forming an Ecosystem around Software Transformation

Abstract

In conjunction with the ACM~s annual Conference on Computer and Communications Security ACM sponsored CCS conference, ONR is proposing to host a co-located workshop geared toward understanding several critical issues surrounding software executable transformation for improving the security and efficiency of all software used in security-critical applications. The workshop will cover several key areas that may be necessary to fully exploit the power and impact of late-stage software customization efforts that were initiated by ONR~s cyber research program. Since software executable transformation is not a solved science (with the generally undecidable problem of automated executable code reverse engineering and analysis at its core), the workshop will be critical to helping determine a path forward for identifying promising environment-specific approaches and cases to alleviate the problem.
