High-Fidelity Viscous Ship Hydrodynamics: Computational and Experimental Research

Abstract

This proposal seeks to achieve the next milestones in high-fidelity computational shiphydrodynamics through advancement of CFDShip-Iowa V6.3, and the advancement of wave basincapabilities for added powering in waves, wave drift force and system identification, largeamplitude motions/maneuvering and stability, and local flow measurements for CFD validation.Code development and V&V of V5.5/6.2 and experimental research of cylinder pure sway in IIHRtowing tank are the secondary objectives of this proposal, which will be mostly supported by otherproposals.
