Atmospheric Propagation for High Energy Lasers, Supporting APSHEL program

Abstract

Abstract:This proposed project will develop an accurate profile model for the atmosphere that will properly characterize the surface layer turbulence, specifically Cn2, inner scale (l0) and outer scale (L0). Based upon the development of the mathematical atmospheric models, the suite of instruments needed to provide input to the mathematical models will be assembled and deployed for testing, utilizing various distances, ground conditions, and temporal variability. Data will be collected, analyzed, and placed in an extensive database for use by the HEL community.
